Caulerpa taxifolia (Killer Alga) is restricted or banned in many countries due to its invasive potential in the ocean. In a closed reef system it can be kept as a nutrient exporter, but must never be released into open water. Fast-growing under good lighting. Monitor closely — if it begins to go sexual (pale, slimy fronds), remove the entire colony immediately and do a water change to avoid a nutrient spike.
