Care Summary

Turbinaria (Cup or Scroll Alga) is a distinctive brown macroalgae that grows in rosette or scroll formations on rocky substrates. It tolerates a wide range of conditions but does best with moderate to high lighting and good water movement. In high-nutrient conditions it can spread rapidly and become a nuisance; in low-nutrient tanks it remains controlled. Not readily eaten by most reef herbivores. It provides micro-habitat for small invertebrates. Manual removal plus nutrient reduction is the best control strategy if it becomes problematic.
