Care Summary
The Banggai Cardinal is one of the few marine fish that can be bred in a home aquarium with minimal effort, and captive-bred specimens are far hardier than wild-caught. Keep them in groups of 3 or more or as a confirmed mated pair; lone individuals can be stressed and prone to hiding, while a group adds natural schooling behavior. They prefer low to moderate flow and a tank with long-spined urchins or similar structure to shelter in; without cover they stay skittish and refuse to eat in front of you. Feed frozen mysis and small meaty foods twice daily; they pick carefully and will not compete with fast, aggressive feeders so target-feed if necessary.
