Care Summary
The Geometric Hawkfish is a rare and unusual deepwater species with stunning geometric patterning; it is reef-safe, meaning it will not eat corals or bother most invertebrates. Unlike most hawkfish it is more cryptic and may spend time in caves and shaded areas; design your aquascape with interesting overhangs and crevices where it will feel comfortable. House it in 30+ gallons and avoid very large, active fish that may stress it; this is a shy species compared to Flame or Longnose Hawkfish and does best with calmer tankmates. Feed frozen mysis and small meaty foods twice daily near its resting spots; it may take a few days to start eating in a new tank, so patient target feeding is important in the first week.
