Green Chromis

Care Summary

The Green Chromis is one of the best schooling fish for a reef tank; a group of eight or more in a 75+ gallon system creates a shimmering, constantly moving cloud that looks spectacular. Keep them in odd numbers of five or more; smaller groups tend to develop hierarchy aggression where the dominant fish systematically eliminates the others until only one remains. They are reef-safe, tolerant of varied water conditions, and eat virtually anything including flake, pellet, and frozen mysis; they are one of the most bulletproof fish in the hobby. Add them early in the stocking process before more aggressive fish are established; they are not confrontational and will be bullied in a tank with established territorial fish.
