Lemonpeel Angelfish
Centropyge flavissima
Reef Safe
With Caution
Care Summary
The Lemonpeel Angel is a vivid all-yellow Centropyge with electric blue eye rings; it looks stunning but is one of the more coral-nipping pygmy angels and needs careful management in reef tanks. House it in 55+ gallons with varied rockwork for grazing; it needs a mature tank with algae growth and detritus to supplement prepared foods and reduce its motivation to nip corals. Feed mysis, nori, enriched brine, and algae-based pellets twice daily; consistent, varied feeding is the most effective way to prevent coral nipping behavior in Lemonpeels. Hawaiian specimens are reputed to be more adaptable than Indo-Pacific ones; if available, source from Hawaii for better long-term success in captive systems.
