Coral Beauty Angelfish
Centropyge bispinosa
Reef Safe
With Caution
Care Summary
The Coral Beauty is one of the most popular pygmy angels for good reason: it is hardy, widely available, affordable, and one of the more reef-compatible Centropyge species. House it in 55+ gallons with plenty of live rock for grazing; it picks at the rockwork constantly throughout the day and needs microalgae and detritus to supplement prepared foods. Feed mysis, enriched brine, and algae-based foods twice daily; a well-fed Coral Beauty rarely nips corals, but an underfed one in a sparse tank will pick at LPS and zoanthids. Despite the caution label, many reefers keep them successfully in mixed reefs for years; the key is tank size, feeding frequency, and not pairing them with delicate LPS in a 30-gallon.
