Compactum Leather Coral

Lobophytum compactum is a reliable, dome-shaped leather coral with a bumpy surface and sturdy build — it looks substantial even as a small frag. Mid-tank placement under moderate light with medium flow keeps its polyps extended; like most Lobophytum it adapts well once established. Expect periodic sloughing events where it closes up and sheds its outer layer — new hobbyists panic at this, but it's completely normal and the coral opens back up within days. No feeding required; run carbon through its shed cycles to keep the terpenes it releases from irritating neighboring corals.
