Care Summary
The Midnight Angelfish is an all-black Centropyge that looks genuinely unique in a reef; the solid black coloration with subtle blue and orange edges makes it a standout fish. House it in 55+ gallons with substantial live rock; it is a grazer that needs algae-covered rock surfaces to supplement prepared foods and stay behaviorally healthy. Feed mysis, nori, enriched brine, and algae-based pellets twice daily; like all pygmy angels consistent, varied feeding is the best management for the reef-caution concern. It tends to be less aggressive toward corals than many Centropyge species but the caution label stands; in smaller tanks or when underfed it will pick at LPS and zoanthids.
